The new form of virus BA.2 spreads faster than Omicron

The world is currently fighting a war against coronavirus. The Omicron variant of this virus has been described as highly contagious & polluting. Meanwhile, a study has claimed that the new variant of the Omicron variant spreads faster than its original form.

The study states that a subtype of the Omicron form of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is more contagious than its original variant. This has been claimed in new research conducted in Denmark. Researchers led by the Statens Serum Institute (SSI) made this claim by analyzing the prevalence of Omicron's parent form (ba.1) and subtype (ba.2) among 17,945 people in 8541 households.

They found that the BA.2 variant engulfs people with the firepower of 39 percent, compared to 29 percent in the case of the BA.1. This is also believed to be the main reason for BA.2 to infect more people in less time. The SSI researchers also found that people who were not vaccinated were significantly more likely to be infected with BA.1 and BA.2 than those who had been fully vaccinated or had received a booster dose.

However, the study has yet to be reviewed. It has been shown that those patients infected with BA.2 have a higher risk of becoming carriers of the virus than others who have not received a single dose of anti-Covid vaccine.

The research team also included researchers from the University of Copenhagen, Statistics Denmark, and the Technical University of Denmark. The researchers emphasized the benefits of the vaccine, saying that those who had not received the vaccine had a higher risk to catch both types of infections.
